Course Policy Modifications
Faculty and students are encouraged to reference our guide (pdf) on when use of these accommodations may be reasonable, and in which specific circumstances they may not be, within a given course.
What are course policy accommodations?
Generally they are either a modification to the attendance policy for a course, or to one or more assignment deadlines in a course. They may be approved as an accommodation if you have a disability condition that has unpredictable acute episodes. They are not meant for things like routine illnesses, or to address time management concerns.
How do they work?
Course modifications, such as changes in attendance policies and assignment deadlines, are determined on a course-by-course basis. Consideration is given to the current impact of your disability and the learning outcomes and essential requirements of the course and academic program.
Requests for course modifications must be discussed with us at the beginning of the semester, or when a flare up of your disability occurs. Adjustments may not be made retroactively.
Input from instructors will be considered in assessing whether modifications to attendance requirements or deadline adjustments are a reasonable accommodation for each course.
