SDS Notetakers
Be a SDS Notetaker
Do you pride yourself on your organized notes? You could be paid for your class notes!
Follow these steps:
- Sign up to be a notetaker and register all classes in which you would be willing to take class notes. Please only register classes that you are enrolled in.
- We will contact you if we need a notetaker for any of the classes you had registered in our system. We will ask for a sample copy of your class notes at that time. You can submit a sample copy in advance only if your professor had made an announcement that a notetaker was needed in that class.
- Once you are matched, you will need to complete an I-9 Employment Eligibility and Verification Form, and present supporting documentation, if you do not already have one on file with Cornell. Only original documents (no photocopies) showing proof of identity will be accepted. More information on I-9 and documentation.
Once hired, the following guidelines for notetakers and students receiving notes shall apply:
Notetakers will:
- Write down all relevant information including lecture notes, test and quiz dates, assignments, and important vocabulary words and terms.
- Attend all classes, be on time, and be prepared to take notes. A notetaker who is unable to attend a class should contact the Notetaker Coordinator so that other arrangements can be made.
- Upload a copy of the notes using SDS Online Services within 24 hours of the class. Notes may not be more than 5 MB in size. PDF format is generally preferred.
Notetakers will not:
- Be responsible for assisting the student with completing assignments.
- Tutor the student for payment by SDS. (Students may hire and pay for tutors on their own.)
- Answer questions about the course content as these questions are better directed to the faculty member or teaching assistant(s).
